Festival Fiebre Photobook 2017

The future of the book and the book of the future

Fiebre Photobook Festival will celebrate its 5th edition on December 14,15 and 16, 2017 at the Casa del Lector in Madrid’s Matadero.

Fiebre is Spain’s first festival specializing in photobooks and it has become a meeting point for emerging artists, professionals and a wider audience interested both in photobooks and visual narratives.

The photobook fair will be at the centre of Fiebre, with over 40 exhibitors including editorial houses, as well as independent authors. The festival’s program also includes a series of interactive activities and workshops destined both to amateurs and professionals.

The leitmotif of the events held during Fiebre will be the future of the book and the book of the future. Both local and international authors, designers, editors and distributors will come together to reflect upon these two ideas and provide their insights based on their specialized knowledge. In addition to this, they will also raise questions about certain concerns that are present in the photography book context, such as the sustainability of this medium both in the short and long run.

In this liquid reality we’re living in and facing the threat of a digital shutdown, books have become an abiding medium for creation and expression. They represent the legacy of visual creators, and have made it to us throughout time and space. In that sense, will they become our time machines?

What takes place now will certainly influence what will happen tomorrow, which implies that this is the time to evolve together.

Fiebre Photobook Festival is supported by Acción Cultural Española AC/E.
